One mother from Kennewick, Washington, was not happy when she discovered her 2-year-old daughter’s eyebrows were allegedly waxed without her permission by the people of Columbia Basin College Daycare Centre in Pasco, Washington.
Alyssa Salgado took to Facebook last Feb. 3 to air out her grievances against the day-care center. “I take my daughter to the CBC Daycare to be cared for while I’m at school trying to focus on graduating! Then I go pick up my daughter yesterday and saw a red mark in between her eye brows.”
Salgado initially thought it was a scratch, but as soon as she reached home, she took a closer look and saw that her daughter’s unibrow had been waxed .
I immediately started to contact the director of the day care in many texts,” retold Salgado. “She tried to come up with multiple excuses then this morning I take my daughter in person to the director. She laughs in my face telling me a bunch of lies.”
Apart from her daughter’s eyebrows, Salgado noticed that her daughter had a scratch on her arm that wasn’t there when she dropped her off at the day-care center.
Salgado said that she is a mother and nothing like this should happen to her daughter, adding that they had no right to touch her 2-year-old at all.
What happened to Salgado’s child was not an isolated case, however. Her friend, Glenda Maria Cruz, experienced the same thing in the day care with her son.
On Feb. 2, Cruz shared photos of her son’s brows, which she noticed were waxed. “I never thought something like this would happen to my son, what were these ladies from son’s daycare were thinking to wax his eyebrows,” wrote Cruz. “Their skin is really delicate and no lady has the right to do this to any kid and when we went to comfort the lady who is in charge there, all she said was that her staff didn’t do it.”
Cruz said that no one was forcing her touring her son to the day care, but she’s paying so “they can watch him good, not to be waxing his eyebrows.”
Her son isn’t 2 years old yet.
Meanwhile, the Columbia Basin College has since addressed the concerns of the two mothers. In a public statement made on Facebook last Feb. 4, the college said that they were investigating the complaints regarding the staff at the child-care centre.
“The Boys and Girls Club, Paso School District, and Columbia Basin College take these allegations seriously and will work together to support the investigation process.” /ra
