MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines is the top country worldwide for the most time spent on the internet.
The latest Digital 2019 report from Hootsuite and We Are Social shows that users from the Philippines spend an average of 10 hours and 2 minutes on the internet daily via any device.
Trailing behind the Philippines is Brazil, with internet usage time averaging 9 hours and 29 minutes; and Thailand, who was 2018’s top internet user, with 9 hours and 11 minutes.
The 2019 report reveals a modest increase in the worldwide average of internet use to 6 hours and 42 minutes from last year’s estimate of 6 hours.
Meanwhile, internet users from Japan spend the least amount of time on the internet at an average of only 3 hours and 45 minutes.
According to the report, internet users from the Philippines also spend the most time on social media, averaging 4 hours and 12 minutes, while the average time spent worldwide is only 2 hours and 16 minutes.
Brazil continues to trail the Philippines in time spent on social media averaging 3 hours and 34 minutes, followed by Colombia with 3 hours and 31 minutes average social media time.
Japan remains as the country with the least time spent on social media at 36 minutes. /ee
