MANILA, Philippines — Google mounted Digiskarteng Pinay, a program using Youtube as its platform to empower Filipino women by offering them informative videos on family nutrition, financial literacy, beauty, fashion, coding skills, and technical skills.
Gara Santos-Ontiveros, industry head at Google Philippines, launched Digiskarteng Pinay on Wednesday at the first Google for Philippines forum at The Blue Leaf Filipinas in Parañaque City.
Google also partnered with nongovernment organizations (NGOs) and government agencies to help in providing women with skill sets for livelihood opportunities through video tutorials.
The program will also conduct offline face-to-face tutorials.
The tech giant has collaborated with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), Cashalo, Unilever, Coca-Cola Philippines and other Youtube creators, such as television host Bianca Gonzales and Team Lyqa.
PCW is tasked with recommending measures for “full integration of women for economic, social, and cultural development” and to “help ensure that all content under the program is gender-sensitive.”
Mobile app Cashalo will offer eight financial literacy modules to help women in learning “Financial Planning, Management and Develop Entrepreneurial Skills and Behavior.” /atm
