SM Supermalls’ AI robot ‘SAM’ elevates the Filipino’s everyday mall experience

For years, SM Supermalls has provided Filipinos with a pleasant and fun malling experience. From their wide array of retail stores to their stellar lineup of events and activities, the company ensures that every Filipino – whether they are big or small, young or old – enjoys their stay in any one of the SM malls.

Last March 28, 2019, SM Supermalls elevated their customer service program by introducing SAM, an artificial intelligence (AI) humanoid robot that provides shoppers with a smoother, more personalized, and more efficient mall experience.   

Co-created by Cal-Comp Technology (Philippines) and built with an advanced facial recognition technology, SAM is able to greet mall goers with personalized greetings. This new technology is also capable of providing directions, relaying mall information, and even notifying customers of the latest deals, promos, and events.

On top of that, customers can ask SAM questions or inquiries about mall hours, movie schedules, and special activities via the 24/7 online concierge service on the SM Supermalls Facebook page.

“SAM is easy-to-approach and has answers to almost everything SM mall-related, making shopping more seamless and fun for our customers,” SM Supermalls COO Steven Tan explains.

Customers can now meet and greet SAM at the Mega Atrium, Mega Fashion Hall, or Bank Drive of SM Megamall.
