Photography enthusiasts were treated to huge price drops when Amazon’s system seemed to have suffered a glitch last Monday and Tuesday, July 15 and 16.

People began taking notice of the discounts when a certain Slickdeals user, with the handle Killroyriley, saw Amazon selling a Sony a6000 mirrorless camera bundle for $94.50 (about P4,800) instead of $548 (almost P28,000), on July 15, as per USA Today last Friday, July 19.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the user bought other items being sold for the same price, as part of Amazon’s Prime Day deals.

“I have bought like [$10,000] (over P510,000) worth of stuff that was like [$900] (about P46,000) total,” the shopper writes. “I just bought a [$3000] (around P153,000) telescope for [$94.48] (almost P4,800).”

Other users who saw the deals in time also purchased their fair share of items. One user who goes by AyoltsPat bought a camera lens worth $13,000 (about P665,000) for $94.48 (almost P4,800).

In total, the two users were able to purchase over $23,000 (over P1.1 million) worth of camera gear for only $994 (over P50,000) during the supposed system error.

Meanwhile, a certain user, Genius4show was slightly skeptical about the deals, saying, “Well, if this ships, this is the best deal of the year.”

Netizens on Reddit also discussed the glitch. One with the handle, A_girl_has_n0name stated that the system error lasted for around 30 minutes.

The thread on Slickdeals was viewed almost half a million times and received over 1,300 comments before the deals were marked as expired, as per report. Ryan Arcadio/JB
