Janine Gutierrez endorses MyPhone fashion series

Janine Gutierrez

MANILA, Philippines – Despite belonging to a family of showbiz legends that include Asia’s queen of song and the Superstar, Janine Gutierrez has managed to keep her feet firmly planted on the ground.

“Hindi po ako sosyal [I’m not an elitist],” said Janine, grandchild of Pilita Corrales and Nora Aunor.

The eldest child of Aunor’s daughter, Lotlot de Leon, and Corrales’ son, Monching Gutierrez, Janine said that she was a simple girl.

“Misconception lang po pero hindi po talaga ako sosyal,” said the 22- year-old mestiza who appears in GMA Network’s Sunday show “Party Pilipinas.”

This is why when the opportunity to become an endorser of the MyPhone fashion series came, Janine said she did not hesitate.

“I can really relate with the brand,” said Janine at a press briefing following the launch of the new MyPhone models.

Like Janine, the MyPhone fashion series combines a classy look for less.

MyPhone, according to its VP for Marketing and Business Development, Richie De Quina, are being sold to Filipinos at affordable prices and with features that are “truly Filipino”.

“We want to give Filipinos the opportunity to buy brand new phones that are inexpensive, thus giving them dignity as Filipinos,” De Quina said.

At the same time, De Quina said they did not wish to compete with major mobile phone giants like Samsung, RIM or iPhone.

“We are not here to compete with them, we are here to co-exist with them,” De Quina told members of the press.

De Quina said that in just four years since their break into the mobile phone industry, MyPhone has sold, on the average, between 300,000 and 400,000 units a month.

Being the face of MyPhone’s Swarovski line, Janine admitted that she could feel tremendous pressure since she would be filling in the shoes of previous endorser Anne Curtis.

“Idol ko yung mga endorsers especially Anne. I have to stay at par with their standards,” Jasmine said.

Janine said that among the phone’s features, she enjoyed MyCountry, which has Filipino trivia, popular Filipino jokes, quotes and movie lines.

Mom Lotlot shared that her favorite feature on the MyPhone was the pre-installed directory of banks and food delivery services; MyFaith, which includes the Holy Bible, prayer book and novenas.

“The simple things mean a lot. Those are the things that are taken for granted,” she added.

Janine said her MyPhone endorsement was “not just something I’m proud to endorse but something I’m truly proud of.”
