The rapid advancement of digital technologies has simplified the way we live in several ways–from accessing information and paying bills to communicating with family, friends, and colleagues. And with the apparent and endless opportunities that come with digital evolution, it goes without saying that the internet is the real game-changer, making an enormous impact on how we experience the world today.

As we sprint towards a more advanced future, the internet becomes a staple not just in business, but also in every household. Take it from InnoVantage‘s Chief Executive Officer Gian Dela Rama who is one of the first customers to experience 5G network in the Philippines. Speaking with INQUIRER.net, Dela Rama shared that the internet has not just made his career, but it has also become an important part of their day-to-day routine.

“There’s one activity that we as a family used to do, it’s video streaming. Second is working from home for my wife and I. I run a business and I need to be in contact with the folks here. Third, just general social media streaming and buying stuff on Amazon, Lazada, and etc. If I have time, I also do gaming,” said Dela Rama.

Switching to faster and reliable 5G technology

Since they only had one provider in the village, the internet connection was quite a challenge for Dela Rama. So when Globe Telecom started rolling out fiber-optic cables in was going to offer the latest technology in the country which is 5G, he decided to upgrade. He mentioned that there’s a significant difference when he switched to Globe At Home Air Fiber 5G, Southeast Asia’s first commercially available 5G technology for home Internet. The technology provides fiber-fast and secured internet connection for an enjoyable and seamless digital experience that allows the use of intelligent or Internet of Things (IoT) devices at home.

As a tech-savvy person, having a fiber-fast internet at home has sped up his everyday routine. Instead of using standard house keys, Dela Rama now uses smart locks that only works with an easy voice command or the tap of a button.

“Right now, I am doing a lot of experiments. We are testing the use of lot of IoT devices and then putting in smart locks and everything because they are all connected. I have also built a network inside our house that allows us to track the kids’ activities,” explained Dela Rama.

Creating an enjoyable and seamless digital experience

Dela Rama is not only an innovator who has a penchant for building chatbots for companies, but also an educator and father of two kids. For him, the evolution of digital technology has radically improved communication, as well as education. With high-speed internet, his kids can easily have access to useful information from the web.

“Because of the [connection] speed and bandwidth [it provides], 5G at home allows more opportunities for communication as well as education. I used to be a teacher, so I am very appreciative of anything that can let my kids learn from Internet content and hopefully, other kids would, too,” Dela Rama shared.

Uplifting the lives of more Filipinos

Whether it’s connecting, educating or entertaining us, the internet has been a useful tool for all Filipinos. And as an educator and tech guru for young developers, Dela Rama looks forward to having the same experience with his fellow Filipinos as Globe starts to fire up 5G in more homes in the country.

“I’m actually excited about the potential of 5G of being able to deliver fiber-fast internet to more homes in the country. So imagine the learning and communication opportunities that Filipinos can access and use with this technology,” said Dela Rama.

Committed to improving every Filipino’s digital lifestyle and bringing the first-world Internet to the country, more and more homes are about to experience fiber-fast internet at home as Globe expands its reach of 5G service.
