Amazon is investigating shipments of PlayStation 5 consoles after customers were left dismayed at what arrived at their doorsteps.

Gamers excited for their deliveries took to Twitter to lodge their complaints after discovering that they had received something entirely different from the in-demand Sony console.

One Twitter user, @flagwithoutwind, received cat food, @iamadamsullivan got 5 kilos of wheat, while journalist Bex May was left with an air fryer.

“Delivery was fake ‘missed’ at midday with a ‘we couldn’t deliver’ message (with no attempt at delivery made),” May said. “Now looks like it was siphoned off then before reappearing this evening, replaced with an air fryer inside.”

Customers suspect that drivers may have stolen their PS5 orders. Amazon, meanwhile, has released a statement to address the concerns, The Guardian reported on Friday, Nov. 20.

“We’re all about making our customers happy, and that hasn’t happened for a small proportion of these orders,” a spokesperson said.

“We’re really sorry about that and are investigating exactly what’s happened. We’re reaching out to every customer who’s had a problem and made us aware so we can put it right. Anyone who has had an issue with any order can contact our customer services team for help.”

As PlayStation 5 consoles swiftly sold out this month, scalpers have proudly owned up to scooping up nearly 3,500 orders, Business Insider reported on Saturday, Nov. 21. These resellers use bots to deplete stocks of PlayStation 5 and put it up on resale markets for hundreds of dollars more.

The PS5 launches on Dec. 11 in the Philippines and is retailing for P27,990. Niña V. Guno /ra
