Smart hosts groundbreaking 5G-powered 360 multi-venue virtual concert

Mobile services provider Smart Communications, in partnership with the Department of Tourism, gave music lovers a glimpse of our 5G-powered future with Acces5Granted, a groundbreaking 360 multi-venue concert experience for subscribers.

Streamed on the 5G.Smart website and Smart’s YouTube channel, Acces5Granted brought together top musical acts including UDD, She’s Only Sixteen, Brigada, DJ Aryan Magat, and Michael Pacquiao, who performed from two stages – one in Intramuros, Manila, and the other in Boracay Island in Aklan.

Though hundreds of kilometers apart, Acces5Granted showed the artists collaborating and interacting with their peers seamlessly without, made possible by the ultrafast speeds and ultra-low latency of Smart 5G. The 360 format of the concert also enabled viewers to fully immerse in the performances and the two venues by simply panning around the video on their smartphones or computer screens.

Groundbreaking ways to enjoy content

The event is an innovative showcase of the capabilities of 5G in providing a much more immersive entertainment by streaming videos from multiple outdoor venues without wires. Prior to 5G, performances like this could only be pulled off inside studios with need for wired connection.

Hosted by Gino Quillamor in Intramuros and Denise Silva in Boracay, Acces5Granted kicked off with indie alternative rock band She’s Only Sixteen. Lead vocalist Roberto Seña performed from Boracay while the rest of the band played from Intramuros, busting out their songs, “Broken Glass,” “Favoritism,” and “Perfect.”

Music master DJ Aryan Magat also spun beats from the island while collaborating with the country’s premiere Afro-Brazilian percussion ensemble, Brigada from Intramuros for a festive and upbeat number.

Michael Pacquiao, UDD

Further spicing up the stage was Michael Pacquiao, who made waves last August when he dropped his debut single “Hate” online, surprising everyone with his mad rap skills. DJ Aryan Magat provided the beat as Michael commanded the stage in Intramuros with his rap songs, “Love,” “Angel,” and “Hate.”

Hit alternative band UDD wrapped up the concert with their upbeat and soulful performances of “Tambalan,” Sigurado,” and” Never, ” which are part of their self-titled album released last year.

Aside from these incredible performances, Acces5Granted also virtually transported the viewers to Boracay and Intramuros to whet everyone’s appetite for travel as DOT and local government units gradually open tourists spots with safety protocols in place.

Lucky viewers also got to win some of the latest Smart 5G-certified smartphones, including OPPO Reno 4Z 5G, realme X50 Pro 5G, Huawei nova 7 5G; Samsung A42 5G; and vivo V20 Pro 5G. Smart is also gearing up to for the official launch of the Smart 5G-certified iPhone 12.
