The top smartphone brand in the Philippines is on a roll and continues to strengthen its foothold in the smartphone market.
For the second time, realme takes the No. 1 spot in the country’s smartphone market for Q1 2021 according to research firms Canalys and IDC.The fast-rising tech brand first achieved this position back in Q3 2020, just two years after it entered the local market in late 2018.
According to Canalys, the brand took a sizable 23% unit share, driven by a 95% annual growth. realme also takes the no. 1 spot in a separate report by IDC, which reported a 21.3% of total market share for the brand.
IDC noted the position was driven by opening of new realme stores in the first quarter of 2021 that further expanded the brand’s channel reach in high growth potential areas outside of Manila.
For a relatively young entrant in the smartphone market, realme also posted the highest growth rate as reported by Counterpoint Research.
Year on Year (YoY) growth for realme during the Q1 of this year, according to Counterpoint, is at +142%, which the brand still achieved despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. The brand also leads in the e-commerce space by garnering the highest proportion in online sales at 34%.
Customer-centric philosophy
For a three-year-old brand, realme has achieved spectacular gains as the smartphone of choice among the young generation. On top of producing high-quality smartphones, the brand is focused and consistent on delivering expectations—what it promises it certainly delivers. Its customer-centric philosophy, like top-notch customer service from end-to-end or catering to the needs of its customers right from the point of purchase, has elevated the brand to the top position.
The brand continues to expand its presence both offline and online to ensure availability and accessibility of its products and services. To date, realme has over 550 concept stores, kiosks, and partner dealers nationwide.
realme is also available through e-commerce platforms like Lazada and Shopee, which offer convenience and safety to customers especially during this pandemic.
Sixteen service centers located in different parts of the country have also been activated to support after-sales services and other end-user needs.
realme also launched the realme Community app, which serves as the brand’s official community forum. Here realme users can ask questions, receive guidance about realme devices, share their ideas, and stay up to speed with the latest news. It is available for download on Google Play.
Championing the youth
realme continues to be a brand for and by the youth. The brand is focused on product innovation that caters to the interests and passions of its young customers. realme innovation is all about notable smartphone features and upgrades that young people can enjoy and use for content creation, gaming, and other youth pursuits.
A fine example of the brand’s youth-driven innovation is the realme 8, which was launched this month alongside the realme 8 Pro.
Perfect for gaming enthusiasts, it boasts a powerful MTK Helio G95 processor that delivers the best in mobile gaming. It also features 30W Dart Charge and 5,000 mAh battery.
The realme 8 Pro, on the other hand, comes packed with a powerful 108MP quad rear camera setup, making it the top choice for aspiring content creators and multimedia enthusiasts.
In terms of aesthetics, realme reflects the youth’s bold and expressive style. The unique design of the realme 8 Series is very trendy, embodying the personality of the youth, who are not afraid to express their emotions and want to stand out.
As it continues its streak in leading the smartphone and TechLife categories, realme promises better innovation in the months to come by developing new products and services that Filipino consumers can enjoy.
