LOOK: Tokyo Olympic games light up night as seen from Int’l Space Station
Aside from those enjoying the Olympics from either Tokyo or from their own homes, astronauts currently in space also have their own way of appreciating the games.
Japan’s capital remains vibrant as “The Olympic games light up the night” in a photo shared by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) via Instagram yesterday, July 28.
“Tokyo glows bright with the magic of the @Olympics in this image captured by [NASA Astronaut Shane Kimbrough] from the vantage point of the International Space Station (ISS),” NASA shared.

Kimbrough himself shared the same photo on July 26 also via Instagram, where he also shared his thoughts on the Olympics and how mankind is just “one team” at the end of the day.
“Hello Tokyo! We flew over all of the action at the @olympics last night. Many countries are competing for gold but from our perspective 250 miles up, we are all one team,” the astronaut said.
“Can’t wait to continue watching the events from the [ISS] today! Who’s watching on Earth, and what events are you most looking forward to?” he added.
Tokyo can be expected to remain as bright and vibrant until the Olympic Games close on Aug. 9. The annual sporting event opened on July 23. /ra
