Discord Gas App Promotes Good Vibes Among Teens

Amidst prevalent negativity on the internet, one social media platform made positivity “lit” among teens: the Gas app.

Discord recently acquired this unique social media app to help teens “feel better about themselves and have less anxiety.”

The chat service published a blog stating, “Gas is all about uplifting and empowering each other through positive affirmations.” Believe it or not, it outranked TikTok on the Apple App Store!

Former Facebook manager Nikita Bier founded Gas in 2017. It encouraged users to spread positivity to raise the self-esteem of its online community.

They start by creating an account and joining their school on the app. Then, adding friends. Then, teens add their friends and share compliments.

The users also post surveys matching friends with the affirmative statements that describe them.

For example, you could post, “Their smile makes my heart melt.” In response, your friends would pick the classmate that fits that description.

The person that gets picked receives “flames,” the Gas app’s version of Facebook likes. Read the reviews, and you will see overwhelming praise for the platform.

“It really gives you the opportunity to know people better and do goofy things to your friends, too,” said user sheepitsu.

User Abby. P stated, “It’s such as refreshing way to talk to people without pictures or videos or even a conversation.”

In October 2022, it reached the number one spot on the Apple App Store, exceeding even TikTok.

Two months later, Bier tweeted that the Gas app accumulated ten million downloads. Eventually, the online chat platform Discord noticed the warn reception fueling Gas.

Discord focuses on cultivating a healthy online community of video game enthusiasts, so it acquired Gas on January 17, 2023.

“We’re always working to create an inclusive world where no one feels like an outsider,” the company said.

“We’re excited to welcome Gas to the Discord community as our next step to fulfilling that vision,” it added.

Conclusion

The Gas app warms the internet by encouraging young people to spread good vibes among themselves.

It could bring a positive change in these teens’ mental well-being and the entire internet. However, the app is not a cure-all for social media’s negative impacts.

Parents still have the ultimate responsibility of guiding their kids. Fortunately, Inquirer Tech can help by ensuring they are up-to-date with the latest digital trends.
