Elden Ring DLC ‘Shadow of The Erdtree’ Recently Confirmed

12:11 PM March 02, 2023

The world’s most-awarded video game will have an expansion soon, “Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree,” according to the official Elden Ring Twitter page.

The recent tweet shows a static image of a person riding a steed in the middle of a field, looking at a giant tree over the horizon.

Developer FromSoftware hasn’t shared more details about the expansion. In response, fans have been abuzz with theories about what the DLC will add to their favorite game.

What could be in store for the Elden Ring DLC?

FEATURED STORIES

The original game came out last year and has earned the most awards among other video games.

It has 331 awards, including the highly-coveted Game of The Year award in 2022. Also, FromSoftware sold more than 20 million copies of the game worldwide.

Yet, Elden Ring is one of the most difficult video games in the world, with one of the most enigmatic plots.

It has spurred fans to piece together in-game clues to learn more about its story. One of the most well-known is YouTuber VaatiVidya.

He has been posting videos narrating the game’s lore, so seeing him form theories about the Elden Ring DLC was no surprise.

One of Vaati’s theories focuses on the person riding an animal. Upon closer inspection, it would seem that the latter could be Torrent.

It is the mystical beast that your character rides in the original Elden Ring game. Meanwhile, the rider resembles Miquella, one of the game’s most powerful beings.

Yet, players only glimpse traces of him in specific areas and item descriptions. The character in the Elden Ring DLC announcement looks like Miquella, so it may focus on him.

Another VaatiVidya theory speculates that it may focus on another important character in the game, Ranni.

Vaati points to the moon in the background, which seems to have an odd shape on it. Elden Ring associates Ranni with the moon, so the expansion may explore details about her.

Conclusion

The DLC theories will likely make no sense if you haven’t played Elden Ring. I kept it as spoiler-free as possible for readers who may not have played it yet.
