T-Mobile announced its purchase of the budget telecom service provider Mint Mobile owned by Ryan Reynolds. It is part of T’s acquisition of the Ka’ena Corporation.

The Hollywood actor tweeted, “I never dreamt I’d own a wireless company, and I certainly never dreamt I’d sell it to T-Mobile.”

He added, “Life is strange, and I’m incredibly proud and grateful.” Also, a press release announcement mentioned he will keep his “creative role on behalf of Mint.”

FEATURED STORIES

Ryan Reynolds bought Mint Mobile in 2019, saying he was “excited to champion a more practical approach to the most essential technology.”

It was founded in 2016, and it aims to deliver an “affordable, premium wireless” service direct to consumers.

Mint Mobile’s main feature is its $15 monthly subscription, which is more affordable than most competitors.

The website claims it provides “5G for free” and “flexible plan options” with “no extra overhead.” In 2019, Ryan Reynolds bought a minority ownership stake in Mint Mobile.

He described his purchase as “a bit unconventional” at the time. “Celebrities generally invest in high-end products like skincare brands or delicious gin companies,” Reynolds elaborated.

Mint Mobile’s budget-friendly services attracted many customers, but Ryan Reynolds’ viral marketing video expanded its reach further.

On January 10, 2023, he posted a YouTube video titled “ChatGPT Writes a Mint Mobile Ad.”

As the name suggests, it shows the Green Lantern star reading a promotional script for Mint written by the AI chatbot.

On March 15, T-Mobile told the public it would purchase Ryan Reynolds mobile company. In response, he said he felt grateful and proud of the offer.

Also, he joked about the acquisition deal, saying, “We are so happy T-Mobile beat out an aggressive last-minute bid from my mom, Tammy Reynolds….”

“…as we believe the excellence of their 5G network will provide a better strategic fit than my mom’s slightly above average mahjong skills,” he continued.

T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert tweeted a video announcement of the deal, explaining Sievert would continue Mint Mobile’s $15 monthly pricing.

Moreover, T-Mobile will purchase Ka’ena Corporation, Mint Mobile’s parent firm. Consequently, Sievert’s company will acquire Ka’ena’s other companies.

That includes Ultra Mobile, a wireless service for international calls, and Plum, a wireless wholesaler.

Conclusion

Ryan Reynolds is happy and proud that the major telecom firm T-Mobile purchased his Mint Mobile for $1.35 billion.

Yet, Reynolds feels incredibly fulfilled for other reasons. On September 2022, he and Blake Lively announced their fourth child, and they recently welcomed the baby to the world.
