AI channel will launch in the US in 2024
The United States will launch the first-ever AI news channel in February 2024. On December 12, 2023, its X social media page posted a 22-minute demo video that showcases its virtual anchors. However, the clip assures viewers that humans are still behind in editing and fact-checking the news segments.
Artificial intelligence has been expanding to many facets of daily life, so it would inevitably spared in news broadcasting. If you’re a journalist, you must be aware of this emerging trend in the industry. Meanwhile, everyone else must know how it will affect news media as a source of the latest information worldwide.
This article will discuss how the upcoming AI Channel 1 will function. Later, I will discuss other ways artificial intelligence will transform mainstream media.

Tom’s Guide says Channel 1 is a technology and media startup by Adam Mosam and Scott Zabielski. They designed the platform for global distribution as it releases videos personalized according to user languages and preferences. Zabielski explained the company’s goals to The Hollywood Reporter:
“Basically, these days, everything has sort of become personalization, whether it’s Spotify learning what you want to hear and recommending songs that maybe you didn’t know about but that you’d be interested in, or TikTok, or any of these personalized algorithms,” Zabielski stated. “That’s something we don’t really see in the news yet.”
Channel 1’s on-screen output and some story selection come from the AI. Moreover, it will show AI-generated images for events where “cameras don’t have access.”

Mosam said in a Deadline interview that Channel 1 is “very clear that the audience at every point in time knows exactly what they are looking at if there has been some sort of AI modification.”
On the other hand, human editors handle production, and journalists write copy. Tom’s Guide says the AI news platform has three sources for the news:

- AI-generated news from government documents
- Reporting from an outside agency
Mosam also elaborated on Channel 1’s objectives. “We’re not coming at this from, ‘Oh, we’re targeting these major cable news networks,” he told Deadline.
‘We’re coming at this from more of a first principles idea, understanding that this technology exists, and as digital natives ourselves, we understand how to build that technology. We understand what to be worried about.” Mosam stated the AI Channel will have a system that will provide users with proof of source material.
Other ways AI is transforming the news
Artificial intelligence is not only transforming cable news but the airwaves, too. US-based AI firm Futuri created RadioGPT to provide AI voices that serve as DJs that can play music, report news, and discuss the weather.
It can also respond to song requests and offer prizes for radio contests! It may seem like it will replace audio, but CEO Daniel Anstandig says it will “save radio, not compete with it.”
“What we’re looking to do is augment a station’s ability to fill its programming with more live and local content,” Anstandig added. The app uses GPT-4, TopicPulse, and AI voice technology. GPT-4 is the latest large language model that powers the globally acclaimed ChatGPT AI chatbot.
Meanwhile, AI voice technology imitates human voices using artificial intelligence. Together, they enable RadioGPT users to create radio stations by themselves.

You may choose voices from the Voice Choice Library to host your shows. Then, it could do everything you’d expect from a radio show. For example, it could play your songs by checking your music log.
RadioGPT can check the real-time status of financial markets and other topics to report about. If you have a radio show, the app can give unique and entertaining breaks to keep your audience engaged.
The AI app can understand comments from listeners and incorporate them into your show. Believe it or not, it can interview guests by itself!
Conclusion
The United States will soon launch an AI channel named Channel 1. Tom’s Guide says the startup will launch in early 2024 on streaming services like X.
The platform will also appear on FAST and other traditional platforms. Moreover, co-founder Adam Mosam says the company’s long-term goal is to have an app that will customize user viewing experiences.
