MANILA, Philippine–Hundreds of thousands of users of Meta platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, experienced a global outage Tuesday night that left them unexpectedly logged out of their accounts.

The issue led to a significant number of reports and discussions on social media as users worldwide found their newsfeeds empty upon attempting to log back in, devoid of the usual posts, photos, and updates.

The disruptions started around 10:00 am ET (11 p.m. Manila time), with more than 300,000 reports of outages for Facebook and about 40,000 reports for Instagram, according to tracking website Downdetector.com.
