More details about the more open ChatGPT access

On April 1, 2024, the AI giant announced it would let everyone use ChatGPT without creating an account.

It acknowledges that more than 100 million people across 185 countries use ChatGPT. Consequently, OpenAI wants more people to “experience the benefits of AI.”

This improved ChatGPT access also lets users keep their data from being used in training artificial intelligence models. Toggle that option with these steps:

  1. Click the tiny question mark on the lower right-hand side.
  2. Next, click Settings.
  3. Select Data Controls.
  4. Afterward, toggle Chat history & training off.

However, this new ChatGPT access mode blocks you from using numerous features. For example, you cannot save or share chats or use custom instructions.

“We’ve also introduced additional content safeguards for this experience, such as blocking prompts and generations in a wider range of categories,” the official webpage says.

In other words, using ChatGPT without an OpenAI account may prevent you from generating specific types of content.
