What are Zoom Workplace’s features?
Zoom Workplace is an AI-powered collaboration platform with Ask AI Companion as its main feature. It is an artificial intelligence assistant that will help users:
- Prepare for meetings and recap
- Draft agendas
- Summarize chat and email threads
- Show relevant action items
Ask AI Companion gathers, analyzes, and shares information from other Zoom apps like:
- Zoom Meetings
- Team Chat
- Notes
- Docs
It also pulls relevant content from specific third-party applications. Other Zoom apps gained artificial intelligence functions, such as Zoom Phone.
The AI Companion will enable it to make post-call summaries and the instructions from a task sent via voicemail. Here are the features that make that possible:
- Voicemail prioritization prioritizes urgent messages by moving them to the top of the call queue.
- Voicemail task extraction delivers tasks from voicemails to help users understand the corresponding steps.
- Team SMS thread summary makes concise overviews of Team SMS threads in PowerPack. Consequently, you can quickly get up to speed after stepping away from a meeting.

The AI companion detects the intent for a meeting in an online chat and suggests a meeting time to help users save time.
Soon, Zoom says it will add sentence completion, chat composition, thread summary features, and 38 languages.
AI will enable Zoom Whiteboard to generate and refine whiteboard flowcharts with text prompts.
More features
Zoom Workplace will add functions to the existing Zoom tabs. For example, it will add a Meetings tab, a central hub for agendas, recordings, and other shared assets like documents and meeting summaries.
Meetings will also have these other features:
- Multi-speaker view will highlight active speakers and adapt the video layout to help attendees follow discussions more easily.
- Portrait lighting will detect faces in poor lighting conditions and illuminate them.
- Generative AI virtual backgrounds will let users create custom backgrounds, not just add their images.
- Customizable toolbar will allow users to pin the most-used features for easy access.
- Multi-share will let multiple attendees share their screens, documents, and other media simultaneously.
- Document collaboration will let users select documents, facilitate access permissions, and co-edit meetings with documents from third-party apps.
The Team Chat tabs will help users stay organized by keeping channel-related assets like links and whiteboards.
Its shared spaces make it easier to organize conversations and find relevant project or team-based topics. Also, workflow automation will automate business tasks in Team Chat.
Zoom Workspaces wouldn’t be complete without the introduction of the Workspaces tab that provides access to Workspace Reservation.
Moreover, it lets users activate smart name tags to add tags to people during a meeting automatically. Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom, said:
“Zoom Workplace with AI Companion will help solve real customer problems by bringing the core collaboration solutions into a single AI-powered platform to help improve productivity, efficiency, and the overall workday, all within the Zoom experience users trust and love.”
