MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday announced the upcoming launch of a Philippine satellite to be used for disaster resilience, environmental conservation and national security.
The President made the pronouncement after presiding over the 8th Philippine Space Council (PSC) meeting where he was briefed on the development and utilization of space science and technology in the country in celebration of Philippine Space Week.
Marcos said the Multispectral Unit for Land Assessment (MULA) Satellite was developed by 16 Filipino engineers deployed by the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) in the UK.
“MULA will provide the country with vital data for disaster resilience, environmental conservation and national security,” Marcos said in a Facebook post.

According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) in a statement, the satellite is expected to be launched in the US within October of 2025 to March 2026 using SpaceX Transporter-16.
PhilSA, for its part, also announced the launching of the Space Data Dashboard, which is a system of geospatial data and information accessible to the public.
