“When you upload your sources, it instantly becomes an expert, grounding its responses in your material with citations and relevant quotes,” he added.

Over the summer of 2024, the company expanded NotebookLM to power new features like Google Slides and web URL support.

On September 11, 2024, this AI tool gained a new feature called Audio Overview. It turns your documents into engaging audio discussions.

“With one click, two AI hosts start a lively ‘deep dive’ discussion based on your sources,” Wang explained.

Eventually, people used it to create Google AI podcasts on superficial and critical topics.

For example, someone from Reddit shared what happened when they submitted a document with nothing but the words “poop” and “fart.”

Surprisingly, the Google AI podcast started by pointing out the absurdity of the source material.

As a result, the discussion dug into the deeper meaning of the silly document.

Andrej Karpathy, a member of the OpenAI founding team, said on X that “Deep Dive” is his new favorite AI-generated podcast.

He created it in two hours by researching various sources.
