Scam Watch Pilipinas, CICC earn global cybersecurity award

MANILA, Philippines — The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center and Scam Watch Pilipinas earned honors at the 2025 Scam Fighter of the Year Awards.

Scam Watch Pilipinas was a runner-up for the Awareness Campaign of the Year.

In September 2023, the reputation management firm Truth360 and the CICC launched Scam Watch to combat scams by reporting to hotline 1326.

Its notable achievements include receiving 11,776 scam reports through the 1326 hotline that helped law enforcement apprehend scammers.

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center was the runner-up for the Best Scam Fighting Organization category.

The agency implemented various measures to bolster the Philippines’ fight against cybercrimes.

It has trained roughly 10,000 CICC personnel and other government enforcement agencies.

These include the Philippine National Police (PNP), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Bureau of Immigration. 

Last but not least, CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos received the GASA runner-up award for Individual of the Year.

He’s a distinguished figure in advanced computer science studies. 

Also, he earned the title of 2007 Timothy Fidel Awardee for successfully combating a global cyberterrorist network threatening telecommunications networks worldwide.

The Netherlands-based Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) hosts these awards to celebrate the efforts of individuals and organizations worldwide in fighting online scams.

Nowadays, the Philippines continues to enhance its cybersecurity with awareness campaigns and the latest technologies.
