Apple unveils AirPods Max 2

10:14 PM March 16, 2026

After more than five years, Apple has updated AirPods Max with its H2 chip, bringing the over-ear headphones in line with features already available on AirPods Pro 2 — including Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, and Live Translation. The company says the new processor delivers active noise cancellation up to 1.5 times more effective than the previous generation.

The more substantive addition is wired lossless audio over USB-C, supporting 24-bit, 48kHz playback. Apple is targeting musicians and podcast producers with this, positioning AirPods Max 2 as viable studio monitors for Logic Pro workflows. It is the only headphone in Apple’s lineup that supports Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking over a wired connection.

Other new features include Voice Isolation for calls, a camera remote function via the Digital Crown, and studio-quality recording — the last of which Apple says improves vocal texture for podcasters and content creators.

The core hardware design remains unchanged from the 2020 original. AirPods Max 2 arrive in five colors: midnight, starlight, orange, purple, and blue.

AirPods Max 2 is not yet available in the Philippines. Apple has not announced local pricing or a Philippine release date. The previous generation launched in the country months after its global debut, and a similar timeline is possible here.
