The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is tapping Filipino innovators through the eGovPH Hackathon to develop citizen-first digital solutions that will strengthen digital government services, building on the eGovPH platform’s 61 million downloads and more than 900 million transactions.

The initiative comes as the agency seeks a P2.7-billion budget for 2027 to sustain the expansion of its digital government programs, including the enhancement of the eGovPH Super App, Digital National ID, eGov Data Exchange (eGovDX), and artificial intelligence-powered government services.

The two-day event, held at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City, brings together developers, students, technology professionals, innovators, and government representatives under the theme “Collaborative Solutions for a Better Philippines.”

The eGovPH Super App serves as a one-stop digital gateway that allows Filipinos to access national and local government services through a single platform.

DICT Undersecretary for e-Government David Almirol Jr. said the government’s digital transformation efforts are anchored on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to bring government services closer to the people.

“So, nangangarap po tayo, ’di ba? So, 2022 nung nagsimula po ang PBBM administration, ito po talaga ’yung kabilin-bilinan ng ating mahal na Pangulo ang sabi sa akin, ‘Dalhin ang gobyerno malapit sa tao.’”

He said the hackathon is intended to harness Filipino talent to build practical digital solutions that simplify government transactions, improve coordination among agencies, and make public services faster, more efficient, and more responsive to citizens’ needs.

Figures presented during the event showed that the eGovPH Super App has reached 61 million downloads and processed more than 900 million transactions. The platform now integrates 1,332 government e-services across 95 service modules.

These services cover health, education, employment, travel, tourism, local government transactions, public safety, financial services, social protection, citizen assistance, and digital identity.

The DICT also reported that the eGov Data Exchange Platform (eGovDX) has processed more than 950 million transactions as of June 2026, enabling government agencies to securely exchange data and reduce redundant documentary requirements.

Meanwhile, more than 92 million Digital National IDs have been issued, supporting over 300 million digital identity verification transactions through eVerify.

The agency also highlighted the growing adoption of eGovAI, which has recorded more than 200 million transactions and over 10 million users. The platform provides services such as language translation, document extraction, electronic identity verification, and assistance on government laws and regulations.

To sustain these initiatives, DICT is seeking a P2.7-billion budget for 2027, higher than its current allocation, to expand digital government infrastructure, accelerate the integration of more government services into the eGovPH ecosystem, strengthen cybersecurity, and enhance digital platforms as demand continues to grow.

The eGovPH Hackathon runs until July 22, with participating teams expected to present solutions that will help shape the next generation of citizen-centered digital government services in the Philippines.
