Tekken 8 Patch 3.02.01 adds Bob and major balance changes

Bandai Namco has released Ver. 3.02.01 for Tekken 8, bringing Bob to the roster alongside a substantial set of gameplay adjustments, bug fixes and changes to the game’s competitive systems.
The update went live on August 19 in the Americas and August 20 in Europe, with Bob available in early access for Season 3 Pass owners. Players without the pass will be able to purchase Bob separately starting August 24 in the Americas and August 25 in Europe.
The patch also changes some of the fundamental systems that affect every match, including the game’s health values and Quick Recovery mechanic, while making adjustments to a large portion of the roster.
Bob joins the Tekken 8 roster
Bob is the headline addition in Ver. 3.02.01, returning to the series as the latest playable character in Tekken 8’s Season 3 Pass.
Season 3 Pass owners receive 120 hours of early access to the character, while general access begins on August 24 at around 4 p.m. PDT. Bandai Namco is also adding Bob’s Aurora Outfit for Season 3 Pass owners once they obtain the character.
The update follows Bob’s reveal at EVO 2026, where Bandai Namco described him as the “Onigiri Savior” and showcased his return to the series.
Tekken 8’s health system has been adjusted
The standard maximum health has been reduced from 200 to 190, while the Rage activation threshold has been lowered from 47 to 45. These changes do not apply to Story, Episode or Tekken Ball modes.
Quick Recovery has also been changed. Its recovery time has been increased by five frames, while its frame advantage has been changed from -2 to -7 on block and from +3 to -2 on hit. The changes give opponents more room to respond after Quick Recovery and reduce the advantage available to the player recovering from a knockdown.
Bandai Namco said the broader performance adjustments were aimed at moves with a significant impact on the competitive environment, particularly where the developers identified problems with their risk-reward balance. The stated goal is to expand the options available to both players during offensive and defensive situations.
Large number of character fixes
The update also contains character-specific adjustments across much of the roster. Many of these address hitboxes, hurtboxes, collision detection, side and back-hit behavior, strike-throw transitions and situations where attacks could incorrectly be reversed.
Several characters also received changes intended to reduce rear attack hitboxes and prevent attacks from incorrectly whiffing or producing unusual position swaps.
Bryan, for example, has changes to his 1+2 strings and d,d/f,f+1+2, with the latter’s block advantage reduced from +5 to +1 and its chip damage reduced from six to four. Other adjustments address counter-hit behavior and positioning.
Reina received adjustments to several of her moves, including reduced rear attack hitboxes, changes to pushback on b+1+2 and fixes for position swapping near walls. Kazuya, King, Jin, Dragunov, Devil Jin and several other characters also received fixes involving strike-throw transitions and unusual interactions around walls and knockdowns.
The patch also adds airborne attributes to numerous moves across the roster. This is intended to prevent attacks that should be considered airborne from being caught by Attack Reversals.
Matchmaking gets a small but useful change
Bandai Namco has also changed how matchmaking behaves when a player receives the confirmation dialogue after finding an opponent.
If the dialogue closes without the player selecting either “Yes” or “No,” matchmaking will now be paused rather than continuing in the background. Players can resume matchmaking by closing the Practice Menu or the dialogue that opened automatically. The change does not affect the matchmaking specifications for Player Match.
Bandai Namco said the adjustment came from feedback submitted through channels including the official Tekken Dev Feedback Portal.
Tekken Ball gets a Kunimitsu adjustment
Several of her kunai attacks could excessively restrict an opponent’s actions when they made contact. The update changes their behavior so the thrown kunai will only hit the ball.
The affected moves are Savage Kunai Throw, Piercing Kunai Throw, Cloud Scorching Blossoms, Rinbu Kick into Savage Kunai Throw and Rinbu Kick into Piercing Kunai Throw.
Tekken Shop and Fight Pass additions
The update adds Tekken Fight Pass Round 11, with both Free and Premium tracks. The Free track allows players to earn up to 100 Tekken Coins, while Premium provides an additional 600 for a total of 700.
Bob also receives an avatar skin for the Tekken Fight Lounge, with a limited-time 75% discount bringing its price down to 100 Tekken Coins. Players can also purchase limited-time Gold and Silver packs containing previously released Round 1 Fight Pass items, with discounts of up to 91% depending on their previous progress.
The Fun in the Sun Pack is also available, adding sunglasses, bikini outfits, micro shorts, sandals and a visor.
Old replays will no longer work
Downloaded Replays and My Replay & Tips data created before Ver. 3.02.01 will no longer be playable. Online Replay data created before the update will also be deleted. Existing Super Ghost Battle, Ghost Match and Ghost vs Ghost data will remain available, although the character behavior and performance adjustments from the new patch will be reflected in those Ghosts.
Ver. 3.02.01 is therefore more than a character release patch. Bob is the most visible addition, but the changes to maximum health, Rage, Quick Recovery and a large number of character interactions could have a more lasting effect on how Tekken 8 is played competitively.
Bandai Namco said it will continue monitoring the effect of the changes on the competitive environment and the game as a whole.
