13th month gift guide: gamers and video games

Gamers are actually easy to please. In this guide, we give you probably the easiest demographic to please because what they want is pretty much straight to the point: video games and anything that supports the fandom.

IKEA x XBOX Collection

The IKEA and XBOX collaboration came from left field. Gamers in the Philippines are well-aware of XBOX’s non-presence despite its parent company, Microsoft having a huge footprint in enterprise sales. So it was a complete surprise seeing an XBOX collaboration initiated by IKEA Philippines. The XSTABY Collection is an XBOX-themed furniture set including joystick stools, XBOX controller display cases, “XBOX green” cabinets, and the “X” throw pillow.

So for the gamers, we’re definitely not getting Modern Warfare 4 on GamePass, but at least we get a really cool furniture collection.

Steam Gifts

Every year, Steam Gifts have always been the go-to for the holidays because it’s the perfect introvert gift, especially for the holidays. It saves you time and money because you can buy gifts from your desk without spending time commuting during the holiday rush.

Pending for Steam Gifts also give YOU the buyer Steam Points which can be used to unlock overlays and other customizable avatars and skins for your profile.

Steam Gifts can be bought using GCash or your debit / credit card. Simply tell your friends to add their desired games to their wishlist or just “stealth buy” them your favorite indie.

A Pinoy-made indie game

At Tech.INQ we have curated the latest indie games made by Filipinos. We have covered them here as a running list, but also have covered the Alon launcher, which is similar to Steam except that it features a curation of local games. Alon is a partnership between GDAP and the DTI.

No Man’s Sky and Vampire Crawlers on iOS

Apple has just launched several indie titles on iOS including a full port of No Man’s Sky and Vampire Crawlers, from the same studio that brought us Vampire Crawlers. There are so many new indie titles available, updated into the App Store.
