/ 01:14 AM January 09, 2013

Apophis, which means “giant snake,” is the Egyptian sun god Ra’s nemesis.

Described as a demon serpent, Egyptian myth says Ra, as sun god, destroys Apophis every morning at dawn. Apophis, the ancient Egyptian spirit of evil, darkness and destruction, is also associated with natural events such as solar eclipses, storms and earthquakes.

Apophis is also an evil Goa’uld System Lord in sci-fi television series “Stargate.” He attempted to invade the Earth, but was thwarted by Stargate SG-1. Inquirer Research
