Smart, Sun network services fully restored in ‘Yolanda’ areas

MANILA, Philippines—Network services in all cities and municipalities in the Visayas that were hit by Supertyphoon “Yolanda” have been restored by Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and Digital Mobile Philippines Inc. (Digitel).

In a report submitted to the National Telecommunications Commission, the companies, through its brand Sun Cellular (Sun), were able to reestablish cellular service in 100 percent of all cities and municipalities of Aklan, Antique, Biliran, Bohol, Capiz, Cebu, Eastern Samar, Guimaras, Iloilo, Leyte, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Northern Samar, Southern Leyte and Western Samar.

Roland G. Peña, PLDT and Smart Technology Group head, acknowledged key government agencies for helping them facilitate the repair of their facilities.
