MANILA, Philippines—Filipinos have always been described as resilient, yet the word may be a hyperbole because the survivors of Super Typhoon “Yolanda” are just “happy.”
Different jobs, situations, ages, and even races, they all have something in common, they have smiled and survived the biggest astronomical leviathan that ravaged their homes.
In a viral in YouTube, survivors of “Yolanda” dance to the arguably the most upbeat and euphoric song, Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.”
Currently boasting a humble, as of posting time, 81,821 views, Quentin Messit’s message is just to be happy despite the situation.
“Never give up,” the video’s parting message said after children of construction workers, firefighters, nurses, a policeman, an elderly lady, and a Caucasian patient eating burger and fries on his bed danced to Williams’ dance-inducing tune.
Shot in the most devastated areas of Tacloban, survivors danced atop a pedicab, on a makeshift bridge, in front of destroyed buildings and atop grounded ships.
Messit, in his video, thanked the people of Tacloban and the United Nations Development Program for the positive-vibe inducing, and happy video.
