MANILA, Philippines – Mobile phone users never had it so good.
A day after Smart Communications Inc. announced free Internet service to its subscribers, archrival Globe Telecom countered by bringing back its free Facebook offer starting next week, its official Twitter account posted Saturday midnight.
No others details were provided as of posting time.
Globe gave its over 36 million subscribers free access to Facebook on mobile phones for an initial period of three months.
On Friday, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Corp. (PLDT) Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan announced that prepaid subscribers of Smart, Talk ’N Text, and Sun Cellular be provided free internet starting Friday until November 30. The press conference was held days after Pangilinan alluded to a “very important” announcement on his Twitter account.
