Netizens give Ombudsman thumbs up

Good job, Ombudsman.

Netizens on Friday gave Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales a “a big big round of applause” for indicting a ranking police official and supposedly a close friend of President Aquino for the purchase of 1,004 AK-47 assault rifles, worth P52 million, that reportedly ended up in camps of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in 2011 to 2013.

“This is very encouraging and promising Madam Ombudsman. Let this trend grow and let the hope for a meaningful societal change imbibed in the minds of the citizens so that they may contribute in lighting the darkness of corruption. Merci!” cogito728sum said.

“Good job Office of the Ombudsman! You still have to prove more that only the administration is selective and not your independent body by getting an ally charged with a PDAF case. Please don’t make it appear that these people are only scapegoats,” netizen Boc Cayo said.

“It is appalling to think that government forces are getting killed and injured by weapons supplied by corrupt government personnel,” Mark Obusan said.

“Kaya malakas loob ng mga rebelde dahil supportado ng mga corrupt na police na to!” Abigael de Clara posted on Facebook.

“The Ombudsman has again shown us how objective she is in doing her job! Another hope for the people in our seemingly hopeless justice and political systems,” netizen johnlorsphilip said.

Roberto Santiago thought this was good news for the Aquino administration. “It just shows that The Daang Matuwid is Functioning. This did not happen in previous Admins,” he said.

Pork barrel scam

But netizens like francoalminolibre believe the Ombudsman needs to deliver more.

“We are still waiting from miss morales to charge abad, alcala, and villanueva in connection with pdaf scam,” he said.
