WATCH: Snake attacks nest, swallows eggs in viral video

The timely warning “Do not leave your children unattended” not only applies to human parents but also to animals.

A time-lapse video of a mother bird abandoning her four eggs in a tree has gone monumentally viral over the past few days.

“Was hoping to see the eggs hatch but instead, this happened…” wrote YouTube user Tan Nguyen, who posted the video to video sharing site YouTube late last week.

As shown in the melancholy video, the feathered parent flew away and left the eggs on the bird’s nest. After a while, a slithery black snake crawled into the nest and swallowed all the four eggs.

The video, uploaded on YouTube, garnered 2.6 million views.

“I was extremely shocked when I saw this and wanted to share the same feeling with my audience, hence the plot twist,” Nguyen was quoted as saying by The Huffington Post.

Social media mixed reactions to the incident – some lamented while some made hilarious plot twists to it. Because of the mint blue shade of the bird’s eggs, one YouTube user commented, “Plot twist they weren’t eggs [but] they were mentos (a mint-flavored chewable candy).” Gianna Francesca Catolico
