WATCH: MIT shows off shapeshifting interface

A report on Wired features a possible contender for the future of digital interfaces in the form of the Materiable from Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab’s Tangible Media Group.
This new project imitates the properties of soft materials like water, rubber and clay where the interface will feel as well as appear elastic, flexible or viscous.
Current low resolution displays utilize white plastic pins that each represent a single pixel, bundled together into a plain-looking grid. As augmented and virtual reality become more mainstream, this type of three-dimensional interface may be used to provide a more physical interface for users. Alfred Bayle
