Michelle Obama joins Snapchat to connect with millennials
The US first lady is officially on board the Snapchat hype train.
In an effort to engage more closely with the younger generation, Michelle Obama has created her personal account with the famed image-sharing platform.
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to a report from The Verge, the first lady’s office acknowledged that more than half of 13- to 34-years-old smartphone users are on Snapchat, which makes it a great medium for Obama to communicate her message to the youth.
Aside from sharing her advocacies, her followers could also expect to see various snaps from the White House, as well as some behind-the-scenes look at her daily activities.
Obama also promised to share a Snapchat story of her upcoming trip to Africa and Europe next week, as part of the “Let Girls Learn” initiative.
Article continues after this advertisementShe’ll be joined by “Slumdog Millionaire” star Freida Pinto and Hollywood royalty Meryl Streep in an effort to meet with young girls trying to better their education.
So far, the the 52-year-old has posted a backstage view of her singing Carpool Karaoke with comedian James Corden and a Cosmopolitan shoot with girls from her upcoming project.
Obama has expressed a desire to continue using social platforms to engage her already sizable following online for the good of both youths and veterans.
The President, meanwhile, is not on Snapchat just yet, but an official White House account will probably be passed down to whoever wins in November.
