Many netizens expressed disgust after a video of rowdy Filipino fans of the Korean boy band BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys, surfaced on social media that showed them openly stealing several BTS tarpaulins.
In a one-minute clip uploaded by user Park Jimin on YouTube on Tuesday, a group of “ARMY,” a trendy nickname for fangirls of the seven-member band was seen impishly forming like a cheering squad in the concert’s venue at SM Mall of Asia Arena. Then, they assisted one of their members as she reached out to one of the tarpaulins hanging on the ceiling. One of the girls succeeded in snatching one of the posters, causing an upheaval on the concert ground.
A sizable number of Filipino fans felt disgraced and humiliated by watching the video.
“Mahiya naman kayo, please. What if BTS sees this? They said that PH ARMY’s are the best right? Then what will happen if they see this?” one YouTube user commented.
