Popular Torrentz site mysteriously shuts down

Not too long ago, popular torrent site KickassTorrents was taken down and its alleged founder arrested by the authorities. And now more big news is rippling throughout the web as another popular site, Torrentz.eu, has mysteriously shut down.

According to The Next Web, the popular site announced its departure after 13 years of service to the torrenting community.

While the site did not host torrents, it functioned as a meta-search engine where users could look up torrents from different trackers. This also included information on the torrent’s number of seeders and leechers.

Unlike KickassTorrents, no mirror site or clone has popped up yet to replace the void left by Torrentz. For now, the homepage is still active and displays a randomized message under the search bar and just above a tiny hamster mascot.  Alfred Bayle
