Microsoft says the Xbox One may be the last and first of its kind to share a gaming library that will be fully compatible with future console iterations.

Microsoft has talked about the future of gaming consoles during an interview with Engadget.

Aaron Greenberg, head of Xbox games marketing for Microsoft, also clarified what Xbox head Phil Spencer had said about all games and accessories being compatible with all versions of Xbox One. Greenberg stated that one of the  biggest concerns when the next-generation consoles arrive is compatibility of older titles with the new machine. Moving forward, gamers will no longer have to worry about that with future Xbox machines.

When it comes to VR, Greenberg said that Microsoft does not consider high-fidelity VR as part of console gaming. It is high-fidelity VR on its own with different VR experiences on offer.
