In an age where expensive smartphones dominate the market, mobile pioneer Nokia has released an alternative for those with a tight budget.
After realizing that replacement cost of these extravagant phones was a big issue for most users, the Finnish tech company introduced its latest model—a $37 (P1,785) phone called Nokia 216 Dual Sim.
Based on figures of the latest currency rates, the cheap phones might even be available for slightly less than the quoted price in other countries, according to Yahoo News.
The phone, launched by Microsoft, caters to people who might be a bit intimidated by the multiple technological changes and would like to return to the simpler times of mobile phone usage.
Nokia’s latest installment offers users a blast from the past with physical buttons and color match keys, including a headphone jack, which was recently omitted by the new iPhone. It will be available in three colors—black, gray and light blue.
Don’t be fooled by its wallet-friendly price, as Nokia 216 Dual Sim boasts selfie and rear-view cameras, 32 GB of memory, an MP3 player, rear speaker and enough storage for 2,000 contacts. It will also support internet connectivity where users will be able to download multiple apps and games.
As expected, it may not be as impressive as iOs and Android phones, but Nokia’s latest gadget makes for a fantastic backup—in case of emergency.
Nokia 216 Dual Sim is launching in India on Oct. 24. As of this writing, there’s no date set for a release elsewhere. Khristian Ibarrola
