A man’s post of a chilling clip of his encounter with a grizzly bear has troubled social media.

In the one-minute video uploaded on Facebook on Monday, Todd Orr narrated his lurid experience when the wild animal charged him, leaving his face, chest and arms drenched in blood from his wounds.

“Life sucks in bear country,” Orr said.  “I just had a grizzly with two cubs come at me from about 80 yards.”

“I think my arm’s broke but my legs are good, internal organs are good, eyes are good,” he says. “I just walked out three miles and now I’ve got to go to the hospital.”

In a lengthy account of the incident also posted on Facebook, Orr said that he was hiking at the Madison Valley area, located southwest of Montana in the US on Saturday when a mother grizzly bear attacked him. “I yelled a number of times so she knew I was human and would hopefully turn back. No such luck. Within a couple seconds, she was nearly on me. I gave her a full charge of bear spray at about 25 feet. Her momentum carried her right through the orange mist and on me,” he wrote.

After the first attack, he suffered puncture wounds on his arms and shoulders, but managed to get back on his feet and jogged back to his truck. Lamentably, about five or 10 minutes later, the beast showed up again and tormented his day again. He recalled the bear biting his head, scalp and arms for 30 seconds until it paused, took a heavy breath, and walked out from the battleground.

“She either followed me back down the trail or cut through the trees and randomly came out on the trail right behind me,” he said, noting that he was “double lucky” after he survived two heinous attacks. After filming and snapping photos of his facial abrasions, a laceration on his scalp, chest bruises and arm fractures, he drove himself to the hospital where he underwent eight arduous hours of procedures.

The Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks was investigating the incident.

In a report, CBC said there has been a significant increase of bear attacks in the area, attributed to the increase of grizzly bear population over the years.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
