Gear VR compatibility on Galaxy Note 7 disabled for safety reason

Oculus wants
to blow people’s minds, not their faces so they disabled Gear VR on Galaxy Note 7 devices to ensure
users are safe to enjoy more VR content in the future.

With the concerns of even replaced
Note 7 devices in danger of catching fire, Oculus has moved to have Gear VR compatibility disabled
for the devices “until further notice” according to Oculus’ announcement on its website, reports The
Verge.

The Gear VR was a collaborative effort between Oculus and Samsung to make VR
more accessible to users. The following message is displayed when attempting to pair a Gear VR
headset with a Note 7:

“Customer safety is Oculus’ top priority. Oculus is removing support
for all Note 7 devices on the Oculus platform. Until further notice, Note 7 devices will not be
compatible with the Gear VR. For more information regarding the Note 7, please contact Samsung
directly.”

The effect of the Galaxy Note 7’s explosive qualities is reaching farther down the
ecosystem, causing even more damage than the initial wave. Samsung will have to pull a unicorn out
of a transparent shot glass to recover from this predicament. Alfred Bayle
