If Facebook was aiming to take over the daily lives of its users, it’s doing a pretty good job so far. The social media site is just about to add another crucial need for human survival to its feature set: food delivery.

Sharing on the social media site has been declining lately and Facebook was in need of a new strategy to keep its user base engaged. With the new feature, users will be able to purchase movie tickets and have food delivered through partners such as Fandango Inc. and delivery.com, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Food delivery is not the first utilitarian tool that Facebook has introduced. Recently, the Marketplace feature was rolled out but had to be taken down shortly after because people started selling illegal items such as guns and drugs. Facebook apologized with a promise of getting things under control before resuming the feature.

For the time being, Facebook states that the new feature will not be used for serving ads and that the new features that have been added recently are shaped by how users interact with the social media site.  Alfred Bayle
