BJMP seeks to widen ‘e-Dalaw’ service

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is planning to widen its reach through the “Electronic Dalaw”(e-Dalaw) program that will help inmates contact their family and friends without having to leave the jail premises, a report from Radyo Inquirer 990 AM said Friday.

The report quoted BJMP Director Rosendo Dial as saying that the project was in partnership with the Office of the Solicitor General.

The report said that the BJMP was now gathering funds to also bring the e-Dalaw system to the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison.

According to the latest record of BJMP, the Manila City Jail houses 19,000 of the total 65,000 inmates of the BJMP.
