When Nintendo made the Famicom Mini, its developers probably had the inkling that someone was going to break into it eventually and modify the software. So they decided to leave a little message.
The message is cute and rather tongue-in-cheek. It reads: “This is the hanafuda captain speaking. Launching emulation in 3.. 2.. 1. Many efforts, tears and countless hours have been put into this jewel. So, please keep this place tidied up and don’t break everything!” reports Engadget.
The ‘hanafuda captain’ bit is a throwback to when Nintendo originally sold Hanafuda game cards.
It was not too long ago that the modding community managed to crack open the Famicom Mini and found a way to add more games to it. Be warned, the method is not exactly easy and may require a little technical know-how for a greater chance to not “break everything.” Alfred Bayle
