Most of INQUIRER.net polled readers disagree with porn sites ban

A higher percentage of INQUIRER.net poll respondents disagreed with the blocking of popular porn sites in the country by the government, a Twitter poll of the news site revealed.

The statement posted was, “Philippine gov’t blocks popular porn sites.”

The Twitter poll result showed that out of 5,454 respondents, 25 percent agreed, 44 percent disagreed, while 31 percent responded with “I don’t go to porn sites.”

The poll lasted for 24 hours since its posting on Saturday.

The Philippine government on the same day blocked the access of Internet users to adult websites as a part of the drive against child pornography.

Access to two popular porn websites, pornhub.com and xvideos.com has already been forbidden. Users are redirected to a page with a notice that reads, “This website has been ordered blocked under authority of the Philippine government pursuant to Republic Act 9775 or the Anti-Child Pornography Law.”

The ban was implemented just days after pornhub.com’s study showed that Filipinos topped the site’s viewing behavior for three consecutive years, since 2014. Filipinos spent an average of 12 minutes and 45 seconds on the adult website.
