A heroic motorman managed to halt his train inches from a woman to save her from being hit in Mumbai, India.

In a footage that went viral across the country, Santosh Kumar Gautam halted the Western Railways train approaching Charni Road station after he sighted an elderly woman walking along the tracks.

Bystanders were heard calling the attention of the woman, but their shouts fell on deaf ears. Noticing that the train was swiftly approaching, she tried to climb the platform but failed to do so. In the nick of time, Gautam pulled the brakes of the train and went down to help the woman.

The New Indian Express reported that the incident, which took place last Dec. 6, has racked up thousands of views on Indian websites as of last week.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
