WATCH: Chinese train passes through apartment building
In China, there is an overhead train that literally passes through a 19-story residential building.
Chongqing Rail Transit No. 2, one of the many efficient trains operating in the country, takes riders on an epic journey through a block of apartments located at the Liziba station in Chongqing city, People’s Daily reported on Tuesday. The station was constructed from the sixth up to the eighth floors of the apartment complex.
Chongqing’s 31,000-square-mile area shelters a populace of 49 million, making it crowded and complicated for people to commute to their offices. As a result, Chinese planners had to blueprint and construct a rubber-tire light rail transit system, according to China’s Transportation Infrastructure Office. But instead of tearing down the building, planners decided to pierce a hole that would fit in the trains and accommodate the apartment residents.
