Witnessing giant robots fight ranks high among top boyhood fantasies, satisfied mostly through watching sentai shows. That dream will finally become a reality as the first ever giant robot duel has been announced for August.

Back in 2015, an audacious challenge was sent out by an American team of engineers called MegaBots to their Japanese counterparts. After some delays and a change in venue, a date for the robot fight has finally been agreed upon, reports The Verge.

The fight will be between MegaBots’ Mk.III and Suidoboshi Heavy Industry’s Kuratas robots.

MegaBots is set to show off their giant fighting robot at the San Francisco Bay area around May. Those in the city around that time can get a glimpse of the Mk.III before the big fight happens. Alfred Bayle/JB
