The current speedrun for “Breath of the Wild” is slightly over 40 minutes. However, this ignores all the treasures and collectible items in Hyrule. Another gamer took up the challenge and completed it in 49 hours.

French speedrunner Xalikah sat down and undertook the mammoth task of collecting every single treasure and collectible item in “Breath of the Wild” in the fastest way possible, reports Kotaku.

Before the speedrun went underway, some details needed to be ironed out regarding requirements that would equate to a 100 percent completion speedrun.

The community of speedrunners eventually settled on requirements that involve permanent items and upgrades. This equated to completing every shrine, collecting 900 Korok seeds, and filling out the game’s photo book compendium of beasts and weapons.

“The hard part is thinking about all the items and stuff you need,” Xalikah told Kotaku. “Especially when the lack of [sleep] kicks in.”

Xalikah had to make use of several resources to complete this Herculean challenge. He had an interactive map to keep track of discoveries. He also had some help from peers at the game’s Discord speedrunning channel.

“I had a good start on the first 24 hours. When I hit 30 hours, it was hard for me,” Xalikah said. “I felt like the run wasn’t going to end, so I decided to take a nap break.”

Not fully satisfied, Xalikah wants to bring down his record to under 40 hours. For now though, it might be good for him to recharge with some sleep before his next attempt. Alfred Bayle/JB
