WATCH: ‘Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen’ guy pushes for energy conservation with Tokyo governor

Inspired by his viral “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen” (PPAP) music video, comedian and songwriter Daimaou Kosaka, who created the fictional musician Pikotaro, is helping to promote energy conservation with none other than Tokyo’s governor Yuriko Koike.

The video is part of an energy conservation campaign where Tokyo residents can exchange two or more incandescent light bulbs for one LED light bulb at local electronics stores, reports Arama Japan. The campaign will last until July 10.

Thanks to the catchy beat of PPAP, the parodied campaign ditty should give people a good dose of last song syndrome, whether they like it or not. Alfred Bayle/JB
