Free Wi-Fi in Edsa starting June 12

Free Wi-Fi will be available along Edsa starting June 12, Independence Day, according to Malacañang.

In a media release, the Presidential Communications Operations Office said the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), together with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), will launch “high-speed Internet services” for the whole stretch of Edsa next week in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s promise.

Duterte, during his first State of the Nation Address (Sona) in 2016 said he wanted to improve internet speed in the country and for selected public places to have Wi-Fi access.

“To make the EDSA project happen, the DICT employed strategies, which include providing access points in all MRT stations and in between stations and enhancing infrastructures for cellular services along EDSA,” PCOO said.

Service testing will start on Saturday. The project will prioritize the stretch of Edsa from Cubao to Guadalupe. KS
