Mocha Uson dares Robredo to visit wake of slain cop – a year after death

Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson challenged Vice President Leni Robredo and  opposition senators on Tuesday to also attend the wake of a slain police intelligence officer following their visit to the wake of 17-year-old Kian Loyd delos Santos, who was killed in a police drug raid.

The only problem? The wake for Senior Insp. Mark Gil Garcia was held a year ago.

The tweet, which was posted on 7:03 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22, featured an article written almost exactly a year ago by Philippine Daily Inquirer reporter Jodee Agoncillo, about an intelligence officer who was killed in the line of duty.

The photo that accompanied Uson’s tweet, written in Comic Sans MS on a bright yellow background, called on Vice President Leni Robredo (referred to in the tweet as LENI)  Senators Bam Aquino (referred to in the tweet as BAM), Antonio Trillanes IV and Risa Hontiveros to also visit the wake of the fallen law enforcer.

The PCOO assistant secretary tweeted the words, “Waiting…” alongside said photo.

All four politicians have visited Delos Santos’ wake and offered condolences.

Netizens were quick to point out that the article Uson used in her tweet was published in 2016.

Uson deleted the tweet but not until it had garnered the attention of netizens, who promptly saved screenshots of the tweet and circulated them on social media.

Uson also briefly set her account to private, and restored it to public status within the hour.

Her verified account with the handle @MochaUson, had 146,922 followers as of posting time.

Garcia, 37, was described by his superior as the “best intelligence officer” he had ever known.

According to the article published last year, Garcia was with a team that conducted a buy-bust operation shortly before 8 p.m. on August 19, 2016 in Sitio Maagay 1, Barangay Inarawan.

Garcia died two hours later at Antipolo District Hospital due to blood loss after he was shot with an improvised shotgun. /atm
